Cookie Policy

What we mean by cookies
“Cookies” are small data files placed on your device when you visit a website. This policy also covers other browser-side storage we use for the same purposes (localStorage and sessionStorage), because UK PECR rules treat them the same way. Throughout this policy we use “cookies” to mean both.
Categories at a glance
We use cookies in four categories. Only the “essential” category runs without your consent.
| Category | Runs | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Always | Sign-in tokens, basket contents, your consent choice |
| Analytics | With consent | PostHog usage analytics, set only after you accept in the consent banner. |
| Marketing / Advertising | Not used | We do not run any. |
| Third-party (other domains) | During paid checkout only | Our hosted payment provider may set cookies on its own domain to secure your payment session and prevent fraud. |
Essential cookies
These are required for the site to work. You cannot switch them off and we set them whether or not you accept the consent banner.
| Name | Storage | Retention | Purpose | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cyr.cookie_consent.v3 | Cookie + localStorage | 1 year (cookie); persistent (localStorage) until cleared | Records whether you accepted or rejected the cookie banner | Choose You Raffles (first-party) |
| cyr.basket.v1 | localStorage | Persistent until cleared | Holds the items in your basket between visits so you do not lose your selection on refresh | Choose You Raffles (first-party) |
| CognitoIdentityServiceProvider.* (id, access, and refresh tokens) | localStorage | Until you sign out or the refresh token expires | Keeps you signed in so we do not ask for your email and code on every page | AWS Amplify / Amazon Cognito (first-party storage) |
Analytics cookies
We use a privacy-conscious analytics tool (PostHog) to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Analytics cookies and storage are only set after you accept analytics in the consent banner. If you reject, or until you choose, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics events are recorded. You can change your choice at any time using the “Manage cookies” link in the footer.
| Name | Storage | Retention | Purpose | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ph_*_posthog (and matching localStorage entries) | Cookie + localStorage | 1 year | Distinguishes site visitors and records anonymous usage events (pages viewed, features used) so we can understand and improve the site. Only set after you accept analytics in the consent banner. | PostHog (PostHog, Inc.) |
Third-party cookies on other domains
Paid entry uses a hosted payment provider. Card details are entered in the provider’s own payment window, on the provider’s domain, and the provider may set its own cookies there to keep your payment session secure and to prevent fraud. Those cookies are governed by the provider’s own privacy and cookie policies rather than ours. We never see or store your full card number.
We do not embed any third-party content (videos, social widgets, advertising tags) on our own pages, so no other third-party cookies are set while you browse the site.
No advertising or marketing cookies
We do not run advertising, remarketing, conversion-pixel, or social-media-tracking cookies. We do not share data with ad networks. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated and the cookie banner will be redrawn so you can review your choice before any new cookies are set.
Managing your cookies
You have several controls:
- Use the “Manage cookies” link in the footer to re-open the consent banner and change your analytics choice.
- Clear or block cookies via your browser settings. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in or completing a purchase.
- Sign out from your account to clear your authentication tokens immediately.
- Exercise your full UK GDPR rights at any time per our Privacy Policy.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when we add, remove, or change a cookie. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will re-trigger the cookie banner so you can review your choice.
